Transfat ban

Well - I've been out of circulation for most of the summer but the announcement that the city of New York was seeking to ban the use of transfats in restaurants shook me out of my inertia.

This is whip up the free marketeers and libertarians into a frenzy. Go ahead, scream all you want about the nanny state, bureaucrats impeding business, freedom of choice etc.

You may not agree with what they are proposing but you certainly can't argue with their desire to see people stop consuming transfats.

Best quote - "Human life is much more important than shelf life".

Right on! I have wondered for several years about the logic of putting ingredients into products that extend their lives but reduce the lives of the people that buy them. Is hastening the death of your customers really a good business practice?
